Who We Are

Sandra “San” Cannon, Principal Partner, is a data management expert with more than 25 years of experience in all phases of the data life cycle. San has provided leadership in both strategic and operational data activities, from collection to curation, including security, privacy, and data quality issues. With a background in quantitative research, she has created and led data support and technology services for data intensive research and analytics. She has pioneered data governance roles in several industries and has led successful data-focused digital transformation efforts. San has worked extensively in the government, NGO, and higher education sectors and leads international communities of data professionals. She is a sought-after speaker, presenter, and educator. She has written several journal articles on data management, organization, and dissemination and is co-author of the book “A Practitioner’s Guide to Data Governance: A Case-based Approach.”

Why We Are Different

San has a background in quantitative social sciences with BA in Economics from UC Irvine, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from UW-Madison. With minors in econometrics and computer science, she speaks the languages of both the business and the technology sides. She can readily connect strategic goals with operational needs to help clients understand how short run options affect long run accomplishments. As an award-winning professor and sought-after speaker, she is adept at helping clients understand everything from the basic foundations of data and analytics to more complicated issues around strategic planning, data literacy assessments, and infrastructure investments.
